Uses
Radium is a highly radioactive element, therefore it has very few uses. Today radium is used in the treatment of only a few types of cancer. Radium chloride or radium bromide is enclosed in a tube and inserted in the diseased tissue. Radium sulphate is used in the radium industry to test instruments for flaws in metals. In the early 19th century radium was used in products like hair creams, toothpaste and food items. Radium was also used for luminous paints, but this is now too dangerous.
